Job summary

The U.S. House of Representative seeks a Network Operations Support professional to assist with network operations, perform first-level diagnostics, and provide onsite installation and repair of telecommunications infrastructure components for the House.

You will use software and hardware tools to identify issues and improve network performance. A minimum of a high school diploma and 3 years of related experience are required; U.S.

Job description

Key responsibilities include assisting with the network operational support, including problem management and first level diagnostics and/or onsite installation and repair of House telecommunications network infrastructure components; and utilizing software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose general problems and factors affecting network performance.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

3 years of experience in:

• Hands‑on experience with standard communication and networking hardware and software, preferably those used within the House.
• Experience with network monitoring, network problem determination, and customer service.
• Hands‑on experience working with standard wiring schemes, network protocols, and networking components.
• Experience with Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide area networking components such as routers, switches, hubs, servers, and UPS's.
• Flexibility to work the following shifts:

6:00 am - 2:30 pm

2:00 pm to 10:30 pm

10:00 pm to 6:30 am

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred.

Security Requirement:

• Must successfully complete a criminal history records check.
• Employee may be subject to drug testing in accordance with the CAO Drug Free Workplace Plan.
• This position requires that the applicant must be able to secure and maintain an applicable Federal Government security clearance as deemed appropriate by senior management, which requires U.S. citizenship. We will not submit your application for a clearance unless you are a U.S. citizen.
• This position requires unescorted access to secure offsite locations which require an identification badge. In order to be approved for the applicable badge, you must be a U.S. citizen.
