Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Infrastructure Engineering Manager, this position supports the ITS-Infrastructure Engineering group and their interface with other campus systems and services. It provides network infrastructure analysis, modification, maintenance, installation, and design, interfacing with internal ITS staff and the user community. The role involves designing and supporting enterprise-level routers, switches, firewalls, access points, wireless controllers, and related infrastructure to ensure system availability, integrity, and reliability.

This position is eligible for remote work in accordance with Cal Poly’s Telecommuting and Remote Work Guidelines and CSU policy, provided all work is performed within California.

Information Technology Services (ITS) is a dynamic team dedicated to helping Cal Poly achieve academic excellence through innovative technology solutions that support learning, teaching, and administrative functions. With over 170 professionals working in a DevOps environment, ITS is committed to continuous improvement, fostering innovation, and supporting professional development.

Key Qualifications
  • Expertise in enterprise network infrastructure and services such as DNS/DHCP/IPAM (DDI), routing and switching, firewalls, load balancing, and Wi-Fi.
  • Knowledge of current network routing protocols including ARP, IP, IPSEC, TCP/UDP, HTTP, OSPF, BGP.
  • Experience configuring network infrastructure in cloud environments (AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network) and private cloud environments (VMWare).
  • Ability to install and design network configuration management and monitoring tools in large-scale enterprise DevOps settings (e.g., Aruba Central, Cisco Prime, Palo Alto Panorama).
  • Proven ability to lead and plan upgrades to network infrastructure, improving service delivery and efficiency.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Equivalent experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Salary and Benefits

Anticipated hiring range: $95,000 – $115,000 annually. The classification range is $61,896 – $152,760 annually. Compensation factors include experience, skills, education, and organizational needs.
