Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Infrastructure Engineering Manager, this position supports the ITS-Infrastructure Engineering group and their interface with other campus systems and services. Responsibilities include network infrastructure analysis, modification, maintenance, installation, design, and interface with internal ITS staff and the user community. The role involves designing and supporting enterprise-level routers, switches, firewalls, access points, wireless controllers, and related infrastructure to ensure system availability, integrity, and reliability.

This position is eligible for remote work in accordance with Cal Poly’s Telecommuting and Remote Work Guidelines and CSU policy, provided all work is performed within California.

Department Summary

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Cal Poly is a dynamic team committed to enhancing academic excellence through innovative technology solutions. Key Qualifications

• Expertise in enterprise network infrastructure and services such as DNS/DHCP/IPAM, routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, and Wi-Fi.
• Knowledge of current routing protocols like ARP, IP, IPSEC, TCP/UDP, HTTP, OSPF, BGP.
• Experience configuring network infrastructure in cloud environments (AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network) and private clouds (VMWare).
• Ability to install and design network configuration management and monitoring tools in a large-scale DevOps environment (e.g., Aruba Central, Cisco Prime).
• Experience leading and planning upgrades to network systems to improve service delivery and efficiency.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience.
• Additional qualifying experience may substitute for up to two years of education on a year-for-year basis.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $95,000 - $115,000 per year.

Classification Range: $61,896 - $152,760 per year.
