Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Infrastructure Engineering Manager, this position supports the ITS-Infrastructure Engineering group and their interface with other campus systems and services. Responsibilities include providing network infrastructure analysis, modification, maintenance, installation, and design. The role interfaces with internal ITS staff and the user community, designing and supporting enterprise-level routers, switches, firewalls, access points, wireless controllers, and related infrastructure. Maintains and supports assigned systems to ensure availability, integrity, and reliability.

Key Qualifications

• Knowledge of enterprise-level network infrastructure and services such as DNS/DHCP/IPAM (DDI), routing and switching, firewalls, load balancing, and Wi-Fi.
• Thorough understanding of current network routing protocols including ARP, IP, IPSEC, TCP/UDP, HTTP, OSPF, BGP.
• Experience configuring network infrastructure in cloud environments (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network) and private clouds (e.g., VMWare).
• Ability to install and design network configuration management and monitoring tools in a large-scale enterprise DevOps setting (e.g., Aruba Central, Cisco Prime, Palo Alto Panorama).
• Proven ability to lead and plan upgrades to network infrastructure, improving service delivery and efficiency.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience.
• Additional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated salary range: $95,000 - $115,000/year. Classification range: $61,896 - $152,760/year. Compensation will depend on experience, skills, education, and organizational needs. Cal Poly offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, retirement, and educational benefits.
