Job summary

Memphis Shelby County Schools is seeking a Network Technician to provide technical and network problem solving for end-users, ensuring maximum uptime across all departments. The role requires field experience, a related degree, and the ability to work after hours and possibly in a correctional facility as needed.

Pay grade 51 with salary commensurate with experience; duties include installation, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and ticket management to meet QoS/SLA goals.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of field experience in network installation, desktop configuration, troubleshooting, and network analysis.
• Associate’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
• Proof of education, training, and/or experience required.

Responsibilities

• Installs, tests, troubleshoots, and operates PC, telephone, and network hardware/software.
• Receives and processes PC/telephone-related calls to the Service Desk; resolves basic issues via multiple channels.
• Identifies and escalates priority issues per user specifications.
• Diagnoses and resolves technical and software issues.
• Offers alternative solutions to maintain user satisfaction.
• Reviews procedures for accuracy in projects, network hardware/software, etc.
• Locates and resolves complex LAN hardware/software issues.
• Configures PC-LAN connectivity from Windows 10 to Windows 11; Cat5e to fiber.
• Configures desktop telephone to switch connectivity.
• Tracks and relocates equipment for inventory control.
• Coordinates with vendors and maintenance contracts.
• Maintains call records and ensures QoS/SLA achievement.
• Updates knowledge-base via discussions/publications.
• Performs callbacks and stays current with system changes.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
