Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC in Redmond, WA, is seeking a Network Operations Center Engineer to support Amazon Leo’s global satellite network. You will diagnose incidents, onboard network capabilities, and mentor peers while collaborating with software and security teams.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in software or technical support, strong scripting skills, and solid TCP/IP and cloud knowledge. A BS in EE/CE or equivalent is preferred, with on-site work in Redmond.

Network Operations Center Team

The Network Operations Center (NOC) team within Leo Networking Software is responsible for tier 1 support for software defined network services at Amazon Leo. You'll join a growing team of network operations engineers supporting Amazon Leo's global satellite network. Our services operate at scale and support workloads critical to customer network performance and availability, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key.

Export Control Requirement

Key job responsibilities

• Respond to and expand network-related incidents in a timely manner, diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security concerns
• Support deployment and onboarding of network capabilities across geographic regions, assisting in the monitoring, testing, and reporting of new network infrastructure including satellites, gateway sites, and points of presence
• Monitor and investigate network performance to ensure maximum efficiency and operational uptime for customers
• Build and enhance tools, develop best practices, and refine operational procedures to measurably improve network operations
• Manage severity 2 and 3 tickets while attending on-call rotations during business hours and weekends
• Lead and mentor other Network Support Engineers with network issue diagnosis and operating procedures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, software, and security engineers

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development, or 4+ years of technical support experience
• Experience scripting in modern program languages
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
• Experience with network engineering for large-scale networks, including diagnosing network impacting issues
• Knowledge of internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent, or experience with networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related) at an advanced level

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with programming/scripting (Batch, VB, PowerShell, Java, C#, Chef, Perl, Ruby and/or PHP), or experience in SQL Server/MySQL and experience with automation and any version control tools
• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure, or experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery
• Experience with satellite-based telecommunication networking

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
