Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking a Network Support Engineer for the Leo Networking Software division. The role focuses on tier 1 support for software-defined network services across a global satellite network, with on-call duties and leadership responsibilities for junior engineers.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years in software or technical support, strong scripting abilities, and deep knowledge of large-scale networks, TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and cloud concepts.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development or 4+ years of technical support experience.
• Experience scripting in modern programming languages.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
• Experience with network engineering for large-scale networks; diagnosing issues.
• Knowledge of internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical/computer engineering or equivalent, or hands-on networking expertise.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve network incidents promptly, diagnosing and troubleshooting connectivity, performance, and security issues.
• Support deployment and onboarding of network capabilities across regions; assist in monitoring, testing, and reporting of new infrastructure.
• Monitor and investigate network performance to ensure maximum efficiency and uptime for customers.
• Develop tools, refine procedures, and establish best practices to improve network operations.
• Manage severity 2 and 3 tickets; participate in on-call rotations during business hours and weekends.
• Lead and mentor other Network Support Engineers in diagnosis and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, software, and security engineers.

The Network Operations Center (NOC) team within Leo Networking Software is responsible for tier 1 support for software defined network services at Amazon Leo. You'll join a growing team of network operations engineers supporting Amazon Leo's global satellite network. Our services operate at scale and support workloads critical to customer network performance and availability, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

• Respond to and escape network-related incidents in a timely manner, diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security concerns
• Support deployment and onboarding of network capabilities across geographic regions, assisting in the monitoring, testing, and reporting of new network infrastructure including satellites, gateway sites, and points of presence
• Monitor and investigate network performance to ensure maximum efficiency and operational uptime for customers
• Build and enhance tools, develop best practices, and refine operational procedures to measurably improve network operations
• Manage severity 2 and 3 tickets while attending on-call rotations during business hours and weekends
• Lead and mentor other Network Support Engineers with network issue diagnosis and operating procedures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, software, and security engineers

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development, or 4+ years of technical support experience
• Experience scripting in modern program languages
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
• Experience with network engineering for large-scale networks, including diagnosing network impacting issues
• Knowledge of internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent, or experience with networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related) at an advanced level

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with programming/scripting (Batch, VB, PowerShell, Java, C#, Chef, Perl, Ruby and/or PHP), or experience in SQL Server/MySQL and experience with automation and any version control tools
• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure, or experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery
• Experience with satellite-based telecommunication networking

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
