Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Support Engineer to support a leading organization in networking and technology. This hybrid role is located in the RTP, NC area with onsite presence every Tuesday and remote work for the rest of the week.

The position starts with an initial 3-month contract with quarterly extensions and long-term potential. The Network Support Engineer will work with customers and internal teams on onboarding, implementation, platform adoption, and technical troubleshooting

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in network support, NOC, IT support, or related technical role.
• Hands-on networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, firewalls, SSH, SNMP; virtualized environments.
• Experience with Cisco/Meraki/Aruba networking technologies preferred.
• Experience with Windows environments and enterprise infrastructure such as Active Directory and Microsoft 365 preferred.
• Understanding of cybersecurity concepts including vulnerability management, patching, hardening, CVEs, and endpoint security.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customer IT and infrastructure teams to support onboarding, implementation, and activation of networking solutions.
• Assist with deployment, configuration, and support of VM-based collectors, integrations, monitoring tools, and network-related tech within customer environments.
• Provide guidance on networking, DNS, IP addressing, routing, switching, firewalls, authentication, and system access requirements.
• Support cloud-based implementations, API integrations, system migrations, and platform adoption initiatives.
• Troubleshoot network, infrastructure, and application issues and coordinate resolutions with engineering and support teams.
• Deliver technical training and end-user guidance to ensure successful platform utilization.
• Document customer network environments, configurations, troubleshooting efforts, and milestones.

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Support Engineer to support a leading organization in the networking and technology space. This is a hybrid opportunity located in the RTP (Research Triangle Park), NC area, with a required onsite presence every Tuesday and remote work for the remainder of the week. This position offers an initial 3-month contract with quarterly extensions and strong long-term potential. The Network Support Engineer will work directly with customers and internal teams to support onboarding, implementation, platform adoption, and technical troubleshooting efforts, serving as a trusted resource for network infrastructure, connectivity, and IT operations initiatives.

Responsibilities of the Network Support Engineer:

• Partner with customer IT and infrastructure teams to support onboarding, implementation, and activation of networking and technology solutions.
• Assist with the deployment, configuration, and support of virtual machine-based collectors, integrations, monitoring tools, and network-related technologies within customer environments.
• Provide technical guidance related to networking, connectivity, DNS, IP addressing, routing, switching, firewall policies, authentication, and system access requirements.
• Support cloud-based implementations, API integrations, system migrations, and platform adoption initiatives.
• Troubleshoot network, infrastructure, and application issues while coordinating resolutions with engineering and support teams.
• Deliver technical training, end-user guidance, and best practices to ensure successful platform utilization.
• Document customer network environments, configurations, troubleshooting efforts, and implementation milestones.

Qualifications for the Network Support Engineer:

• 2+ years of experience in network support, technical support, NOC operations, IT support, systems administration, help desk, or a related technical role.
• Hands-on experience with networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, firewalls, SSH, SNMP, and virtualized environments.
• Experience supporting Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, or similar networking technologies is preferred.
• Experience with Windows environments, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Windows Server, or other enterprise infrastructure technologies is preferred.
• Understanding of cybersecurity concepts including vulnerability management, software patching, system hardening, CVEs, and endpoint security.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose network, infrastructure, and connectivity issues.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• CCNA certification or equivalent networking experience is a plus.

Compensation:

• $28-$35/hr
