Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our client’s growing telecommunications team in Upington, Northern Cape. This hybrid role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing security infrastructure to protect networks and data, with responsibilities spanning threat mitigation, incident response, and policy development.

You will work with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and SIEM tools, collaborating with IT colleagues to ensure secure network operations and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of network security engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols and architecture.
• Hands-on with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Proficient in configuring and managing network security devices from major vendors.
• Experience with security monitoring tools and SIEM systems.
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, CISSP) are desirable.
• Experience with cloud network security is a plus.
