Placements24 is seeking a Senior Network Administrator to oversee and manage complex network infrastructure from our Upington facility in the Northern Cape, ZA. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs to ensure reliable connectivity for all operations.

We require at least 5 years of experience, deep TCP/IP knowledge, and familiarity with Cisco/Juniper gear; CCNA/CCNP is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years in network administration and support.
• Strong TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF/BGP), DNS/DHCP knowledge.
• Experience with enterprise networking gear (Cisco/Juniper).
• Proficiency configuring firewalls and VPNs; security best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in an office environment.
• CCNA/CCNP or equivalent desirable.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent logistics company operating across South Africa, is seeking a seasoned Senior Network Administrator to oversee and manage their critical network infrastructure. This role is based in Upington, Northern Cape, ZA , and is essential for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the company's network operations. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. This is an office-based position, requiring your presence at our Upington facility to provide hands-on support and ensure seamless network connectivity for all business operations. We are looking for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of network protocols and a proven ability to manage complex network environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network problems to ensure optimal connectivity and uptime.
• Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other enterprise-grade networking equipment.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls and VPN technologies.
• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an office environment.
• Relevant networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience with wireless networking technologies is a plus.
