Major Duties

Classification: Non-Exempt, Bargaining

The Network Operations Technician supports the installation and maintenance of all network systems. Responsible for managing and maintaining all IP Centric Central Office equipment that encompasses all Data product offerings where applicable.

Performs job duties consistent with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements; company standards, culture, and business practices. Acts with the highest level of business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.

Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains all network systems, platforms, and circuitry.
• Ensures all aspects of the network are performing optimally.
• Loads, tests, and evaluates software on network elements and platforms.
• Initiates improvements in the quality of network service delivery and maintenance.
• Reads and interprets technical manuals and documentation for equipment installation and troubleshooting.
• Performs troubleshooting and repair of network problems.
• Collaborates with colleagues across various departments such as Field Operations, Engineering, Sales, Provisioning, and Care.
• Participates in the standby rotation schedule.
• Interprets data, determines relationships, and resolves discrepancies.
• Provides solutions to a variety of problems.
• Maintains knowledge of rules and interpretations within the functional area.
• Maintains and configures CCI network elements and platforms.
• Participates in network troubleshooting, planning, and performance evaluation.

Additional Tasks

• Prepares and completes activities like moving, changing, installing, configuring, repairing, and removing data communications equipment by reviewing work orders and documentation.
• Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on network elements and platforms.
• Uses and maintains vehicles, tools, and test equipment safely.
• Completes basic maintenance and exercises generators as directed.
• Adheres to all National Electrical Safety Codes and company practices.
• Performs additional tasks as required by the company.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Networking and Electronics
• Valid State Driver's License with satisfactory driving record
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills
• Knowledge of procedures and practices within the functional area
• Proficient with hand and power tools
• Required Education & Experience: Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent work experience

Salary

Pay range (based on skills and experience): $21.23 - $29.54

Other Information

Physical demands and work environment include working in equipment settings, outdoor work in various weather conditions, moderate noise levels, and physical activities such as climbing, lifting up to 75 pounds, and working in outdoor weather. Travel within the service area may be required.
