Job description

VCA is seeking a dedicated Regional Technician Director to lead the growth and development of veterinary technicians and assistants within the Mountain Southwest Group. This role emphasizes enhancing medical quality, fostering team collaboration, ensuring patient safety, and advancing technician training and career progression, aligning with VCA's mission and medical initiatives.

The Director will work closely with Field Leaders and Medical Operations to achieve these objectives, providing mentorship, leadership, and medical advancement opportunities for staff. The position is remote but preferred to be based in Houston, Austin, or San Antonio, with up to 65% travel to hospitals.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assess hospital needs for technician/assistant education and policy implementation.
  2. Develop training tools and development plans, and improve workflows with hospital teams.
  3. Collaborate with regional leadership to identify training needs.
  4. Implement educational initiatives with Medical Operations and Learning teams.
  5. Participate in recruiting efforts at career fairs, conferences, and colleges.
  6. Promote career paths within VCA and engage in community and industry involvement.
  7. Foster enthusiasm for learning and career growth among staff.
  8. Support externship programs and strengthen relationships with veterinary technology programs.
  9. Develop educational resources and training standards in cooperation with other Regional Directors and Medical Operations.
  10. Fulfill other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Active RVT / CVT certification required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years as a licensed technician.
  • Experience in public speaking, supervising, and adult education preferred.

Working conditions:

  • Travel up to 65%.
