Job description

Take the Next Step in Your IT Career

ProInfoNet is seeking a Network Operations Specialist to join our Bangor-based Network Operations Center.

This is a mid-level role. We're looking for someone who already has experience supporting networks or technical infrastructure and is ready to take on greater ownership, more complex troubleshooting, and a broader operational role.

You do not need to be a network engineer, but this is not an entry-level position. You should have a solid technical foundation, good troubleshooting instincts, strong communication skills, and an interest in continuing to grow.

You'll work with an experienced team supporting mission-critical internet, WAN, and network services for healthcare organizations and other customers throughout Maine. The work is fast-paced, collaborative, and meaningful because the systems and circuits we support are essential to our customers' daily operations.

This position is primarily based in our Bangor, ME office and is not a remote role.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Network Operations Specialist, you'll help keep critical customer networks running while taking ownership of more complex issues and helping improve how the NOC operates.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Monitor customer networks and respond to alerts, outages, connectivity problems, and service degradation.
  • Take ownership of support tickets that require investigation, coordination, and follow-through to resolution.
  • Troubleshoot internet, WAN, VPN, wireless, firewall, routing, switching, and carrier-circuit issues while working with customers, vendors, service providers, and senior engineers as needed.
  • Help improve how the NOC documents, troubleshoots, escalates, and communicates by identifying recurring issues, creating practical documentation, and contributing to better processes.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, knowledge-base articles, ticket templates, and troubleshooting procedures that make the team more effective.
  • Assist with network maintenance, circuit testing, service changes, upgrades, and customer implementations while continuing to expand your technical knowledge.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate already has hands-on experience in a Network Operations Center, managed services provider, IT department, help desk, ISP, telecommunications company, or another technical support environment and is ready for the next step in their career.

You don't need to know everything on day one, but you should already be comfortable troubleshooting technical issues independently and have a solid understanding of networking fundamentals.

You'll likely succeed in this role if you:

  • Have practical experience supporting users, networks, systems, telecommunications services, or technical operations.
  • Understand networking fundamentals including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, and internet connectivity.
  • Approach troubleshooting methodically instead of immediately passing difficult issues to someone else.
  • Know when to continue investigating and when an issue requires escalation.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and coworkers, particularly during service-impacting incidents.
  • Write useful ticket notes and documentation that others can easily follow.
  • Stay organized while managing multiple tickets, alerts, and priorities.
  • Look for patterns and opportunities to improve the operation rather than treating every issue as an isolated event.
  • Want to continue building deeper networking and operational skills.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE WORKING HERE:

ProInfoNet is a mission-driven IT consulting firm dedicated to strengthening connectivity and supporting communities across Maine and beyond. Our work combines technical expertise with purpose, helping organizations design, build, and maintain systems that make a difference.

You’ll join a close-knit team that values collaboration, professional growth, and work-life balance. We believe great work starts with great people, and our culture reflects that. We’re committed to helping each other succeed while making a lasting difference for the clients and communities we serve.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:

ProInfoNet offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including:

  • Hourly wage of $23.00–$26.00, based on experience and qualifications, with overtime eligibility
  • Generous paid time off and holiday schedule
  • 85% company-paid health insurance coverage
  • 50% company-paid dental and vision insurance
  • Company-paid short-term disability insurance
  • Company-paid identity protection coverage
  • Great retirement plan with a generous company contribution
