Job summary

Cloudflare is hiring a Network Hardware Engineer in Austin, TX. You will drive the NPI process for network devices, implement DVT/PVT workflows, and develop automated test plans to ensure production readiness.

You will collaborate with Network Engineering, Operations, and Datacenter teams to optimize hardware performance and reliability, while documenting results for internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven ability to conduct evaluation, testing, measurement and/or simulation of hardware performance.
• Extensive experience with networking hardware architecture, validation, benchmarking, debugging and deployment.
• Deep knowledge of data center networking and Internet routing.
• Track record of driving engineering projects from idea to implementation.
• Experience with OEM/ODMs and technology vendors.
• Python or similar scripting proficiency at professional level.
• Familiarity with AI tools and coding agents.

Responsibilities

• Lead all stages of the New Product Introduction (NPI) for network hardware, including device validation and production readiness.
• Create and automate test plans that align with operational needs and hardware limits.
• Collaborate across Network Engineering, Operations, Datacenter teams to guide hardware decisions.
• Develop tools to evaluate hardware performance and testing efficiency.
• Troubleshoot, reproduce, and resolve hardware issues to support operations.
• Document results and updates via blogs, wikis, and internal presentations.
