Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Network Hardware Engineer in Austin to lead the NPI process for network devices powering Cloudflare’s global network. You will drive device validation, test planning, and performance benchmarking, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure robust hardware deployments.

You will automate tests, reproduce hardware issues for TAC support, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer/Electrical Engineering or CS.
Proven ability to evaluate hardware performance via testing, measurement, or simulation.
Extensive experience with networking hardware architecture, validation, performance benchmarking, debugging, and deployment.
Deep knowledge of data center networking, routing protocols, and Internet routing.
Track record of driving engineering projects from idea to implementation.
Experience working with OEM/ODMs and technology vendors.
Professional-level proficiency in Python or similar programming/scripting languages.
Familiarity with AI tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) for network devices across Cloudflare's global network.
Create and automate test plans aligning with operations and hardware limits.
Investigate and reproduce issues to support TAC cases and feature testing.
Collaborate with Network Engineering, Datacenter Engineering, and Operations on hardware decisions.
Develop tools to automate network hardware performance testing.
Document results and updates via internal blogs, wikis, and tickets.
