Job summary

Legacy Community Health is seeking a Network Engineer II to maintain our wired and wireless networks, optimize LAN/WAN infrastructure, and ensure reliable access to essential business applications.

The role emphasizes customer service, collaboration, and growth opportunities in a mission-driven health network serving the Houston area. Houston-based hybrid work models are available, with remote work on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 4-6 years network, routing and switching experience.
• CCNA required or commitment to achieve within 9 months.
• Familiarity with Cisco R&S/Firewall product line.
• DNS, DHCP, IP addressing and subnetting knowledge.
• Ability to configure Cisco routers/switches from the CLI.
• Experience with VPNs and firewalls for network security.
• Experience supporting a multi-site WAN.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Network team projects as assigned to enhance our infrastructure.
• Maintain the corporate network to ensure accessibility to essential business applications.
• Assist in setting up and configuring complex switching environments tailored to our needs.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues, ensuring smooth operations.
• Configure advanced wireless networking to support secure and guest access.
• Administer IP subnets/services like DNS, DHCP, and Etherchannel (Bonding).
• Manage applications such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure or Umbrella security.
• Conduct research on new technologies, recommending and implementing solutions.
• Resolve Customer Support tickets with a customer-focused approach.
• Document best practices and maintain awareness of networking standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the team’s success.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required, or equivalent experience
• 4-6 years network, routing and switching experience.
• CCNA required, or commitment to achieve within 9 months.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Familiarity with the Cisco R&S/Firewall product line.
• Ability to perform in-place upgrades to IOS or other Cisco appliance software versions.
• Demonstrated understanding of TCP/IP protocols and IP addressing/subnetting. Capable of using tools such as wireshark and interpreting the results.
• Ability to configure and maintain advanced routing protocols, such as EIGRP/BGP
• Ability to configure Cisco routers/switches from the CLI.
• Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls
• Demonstrated ability to support a multi-site WAN.
• Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and photocopiers.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
• Must excel at customer service; will go the ‘extra mile’ to solve customer problems; will work on complex server issues or help the desktop analyst at any moment.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Requires occasional off-hours project work to suit maintenance windows or emergencies.
• Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize
• CCNP R&S preferred
