Legacy Community Health in Houston, TX is seeking a Bilingual Eligibility Specialist to guide applicants through third-party reimbursement processes and admit new patients into our services with empathy and clarity.

The role requires preparing accurate insurance billing and CPCDMS entries, handling inquiries, and supporting a collaborative team to ensure timely eligibility determinations and service initiation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; medical knowledge preferred.
• 3–5 years of medical billing experience preferred.
• Some training or background in ICD-CPT codes preferred.
• Ability to understand and apply bookkeeping and accounting terminology.
• Proficiency with computers and office equipment.
• Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct eligibility assessments for clients according to program guidelines.
• Verify clients have no other payer sources such as Medicaid or Medicare.
• Register clients into CPCDMS and complete paperwork.
• Enter eligible client data into the electronic system accurately.
• Maintain organized eligibility files for easy access.
• Conduct renewal eligibility assessments as required.
• Confirm eligibility appointments and set initial service appointments.
• Provide clients with required eligibility documentation.
• Support the Performance Improvement Program and team collaboration.
• Attend safety training and uphold safety protocols.
• Travel to other sites for training and coverage as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct eligibility assessments for clients, adhering to specific program guidelines.
• Verify that clients do not have other payer sources, such as Medicaid, Medicare, or third-party insurance.

• Perform data entry of eligible clients into our electronic system.
• Maintain up-to-date and orderly eligibility files for seamless access and review.
• Conduct renewal eligibility assessments as required by each program.
• Confirm eligibility appointments and set initial service appointments once eligibility is determined.
• Provide clients with a list of required eligibility documentation.
• Participate actively in the Performance Improvement Program.
• Promote effective working relations and collaborate as part of a dedicated team.
• Attend all required safety training programs and adhere to safety protocols.
• Ensure a safe environment by following proper procedures and reporting concerns.
• Travel to other sites for training and coverage as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, some medical knowledge.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of medical billing experience preferred.
• Some training or background in ICD-A / CPT codes preferred.
• Ability to understand and practice bookkeeping and accounting terminology required.
• Ability to operate computers and other office machines required.
• Must be able to take responsibility and work under pressure.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices preferred.
