Job summary

Breezeline is hiring a Network Engineer in Columbus, OH to design and activate commercial network services across fiber and PON technologies. You will standardize operation and configuration, support field deployment, and collaborate with NOC, engineering, and service teams to deliver reliable customer solutions.

Requires a bachelor’s in engineering or related field, 4+ years in datacom design, and Cisco/Ciena CLI experience.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of datacom network design and architecture.
• Advanced Cisco/Ciena CLI device configuration.
• Experience with provisioning elements: TFTP/TOD/CM files.
• Knowledge of ONT/OLT PON infrastructures and CWDM/DWDM.
• Knowledge of G-PON, XGS-PON, and E-PON access tech.
• Experience with Y.1564, RFC 2544, and 802.1ag testing.
• Understanding IP addressing and routing protocols (OSPF/BGP/RIPv2).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams effectively.
• Bachelor’s degree and industry certifications.

Responsibilities

• Support efforts to enhance customer service and experience.
• Coordinate fiber operations and changes to Headend and NID hardware.
• Liaise with Network Engineers, NOC, and Tech Support for end-to-end solutions.
• Provide engineering support for new or existing technologies.
• Support Viavi Fusion, OcularIP, and ServiceNow tools.
• Manage priorities and advance long-term projects.
• Grow scripting and automation initiatives such as ZTP.
• Advise senior management on dedicated fiber solutions.
• Quality control to ensure guaranteed speeds and bandwidth.
• Encourage ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Support capital budget and plan maintenance windows.
• Coordinate with vendors for testing and equipment evaluation.
• Perform other duties as requested.
