Job summary

The University of Maryland, College Park, Division of Information Technology (DIT) seeks a mid-level IT Network Engineer to plan, design, and implement wired and wireless network infrastructure and related services. You will collaborate with stakeholders, maintain documentation, and support VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, VoIP, and monitoring systems.

This on-site role may require occasional evenings or weekend shifts and participation in on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; three years of professional network design, implementation and escalation support.
• Additional work experience may substitute for up to four years of education on a year-for-year basis.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade networking hardware and security concepts.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement wired and wireless network infrastructure improvements and capabilities.
• Design, develop, and support network infrastructure including routers, switches, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, VoIP, and wireless systems.
• Maintain up-to-date network documentation and run books; create design and test plans.
• Present technical designs to mixed audiences and mentor colleagues; participate in on-call rotation.
