Job summary

The University of Maryland Division of Information Technology (DIT) seeks a Network Support role to implement, monitor, and support wired and wireless networks across campus. You will assist faculty, staff, and students with edge connectivity, including jack activations, copper/optical links, and VPN troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include DHCP/DNS services, network infrastructure deployment, and on-call support.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Zero (0) years of professional experience supporting the operations, maintenance, and administration of information technology infrastructure.
Additional work experience may be substituted year-for-year for up to four (4) years of the required education.
Ability to communicate effectively orally, and in writing
Ability to follow directions from more senior team members
A demonstrated commitment to customer service
Ability to deliver assignments on time
Skilled in the use of office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces

Responsibilities

Implement, monitor, and support the University of Maryland wired and wireless networks.
Provide support to UM Faculty, Staff, and Students for edge network connections (jack activations, copper/optical, wired switches, wireless APs).
Troubleshoot DHCP, DNS, VPN, and network infrastructure deployments/replacements.
Coordinate with Network Operations Center (NOC) functions and network management systems.
Be prepared for on-call duties and variable shifts as needed.
