AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual access to our cloud services. You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collaborate across AWS to uphold safety and security standards while providing extensive capacity at low costs. We foster an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and ownership.

About the Core Networking Team

The team focuses on building and maintaining datacenter networks supporting AWS services and customers across multiple global datacenters. Our goal is to balance efficiency, performance, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy network infrastructure supporting various AWS services across global datacenters.
  • Scale and automate network deployment in existing and new locations.
  • Drive scalability of current network designs.
  • Create simple, repeatable deployment processes to improve velocity and quality.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on design and deployment from concept to production.
  • Update network standards and ensure compliance during deployment.
  • Implement network changes and work with automation teams to enhance scalability.
A Day in the Life
  • Work on a 24x7 on-call rotation, handling critical events.
  • Manage customer issues efficiently under pressure.
  • Plan and deploy networks safely and effectively.
  • Maintain high alertness during scheduled hours.
  • Travel to data centers and offices as needed.

The AWS Network Fabric Engineering team provides unconstrained connectivity for AWS services, managing internal datacenter networks and supporting newer offerings like Outposts and Local Zones.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in large-scale networks.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with IP routing protocols/technologies in large data centers or WAN environments.
  • 1+ years of experience with Python or similar language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, IP routing, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, MPLS, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, and related technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience diagnosing network performance issues.
  • Customer interaction experience for problem resolution.
  • Strong Unix/Linux skills and scripting in Perl, Python, shell, C, or C++.
