Overview

Our client is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Men’s Senior Associate Designer to work within the tailored sportswear category. The ideal candidate will have experience with constructed jackets, outerwear, shirts, and trousers. This role requires a strong sense of trend awareness, technical design knowledge, and fabric development skills. The candidate must be able to travel to fabric mills and client accounts, presenting to Buying/Merchandising and Product Development teams to bring seasonal concepts to life, ensuring alignment with brand identity and market trends. This position can be based in NYC or remotely, with frequent travel required both nationally and overseas.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in creating trend-right, brand-appropriate designs across multiple categories.
  2. Develop sketches, CADs, and technical flats, paying attention to fit, construction, and fabrications.
  3. Collaborate with international teams to adapt designs to the US market.
  4. Research market trends, competitors, and customer preferences to guide design decisions.
  5. Participate in fittings, recommending garment adjustments and improvements.
  6. Work with fabric and trim teams to select materials that meet design and cost requirements.
  7. Contribute to seasonal color palettes and print development.
  8. Maintain fabric and trim libraries.
  9. Coordinate with merchandising, product development, and production teams for design feasibility and cost efficiency.
  10. Communicate design concepts to vendors and manufacturers, ensuring sample accuracy.
  11. Review lab dips, strike-offs, and trims for color and material consistency.
  12. Create and manage detailed tech packs for vendors.
  13. Organize and update all design files, sketches, and tech packs.
  14. Participate in fittings, approvals, and meetings to track project progress and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in Men’s fashion/apparel design, focusing on tailored/constructed wear-to-work categories.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM software.
  • Ability to produce detailed technical flats, CADs, and tech packs.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, washes, and trims.
  • Knowledge of current fashion trends, market landscape, and retail environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively across teams.
