Information Technology Services (ITS) at the MCCCD is seeking a Network Administrator who wants to do more than maintain an established Cisco environment. This position will help operate, secure, and improve an enterprise network, including newly implemented Arista-based infrastructure at its District office, while supporting Gateway Community College, satellite locations, and shared connectivity services across the District.
As part of a developing internal Network and Infrastructure function, the Administrator will have the opportunity to improve monitoring and automation, strengthen operational standards and documentation, contribute to how the team works as it grows, and help transfer critical knowledge from vendors into the District. Working under general supervision, the position independently handles routine assignments and moderately complex network issues and supports small projects or clearly defined components of larger initiatives.

30% - Monitors, administers, and maintains enterprise wired, wireless, WAN, internet, VPN, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and related network services. Performs routine health checks and maintenance, reviews monitoring evidence, and verifies availability, capacity, and performance across District locations
25% - Investigates and resolves network incidents and escalated support issues. Analyzes alerts, logs, flow data, interface statistics, and packet captures; restores service; communicates status and impact; documents work in the authoritative ITSM record; and coordinates vendor support when needed
20% - Installs, configures, tests, upgrades, and implements approved network hardware, software, interfaces, and configuration changes. Prepares implementation, validation, and rollback steps and supports small projects or clearly defined components of larger projects
15% - Maintains network security controls, including firewalls, access control lists, segmentation, secure remote access, device hardening, software and firmware currency, and protected administrative access. Works with security and change-management partners to address vulnerabilities and safeguard District data and services
10% - Maintains network diagrams, configuration and CMDB records, runbooks, knowledge articles, test results, standards, procedures, and reports. Communicates with customers and technical teams, researches relevant technologies and practices, shares guidance with colleagues, and performs related duties as assigned
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field, and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience providing technical support in the installation, and/or maintenance or repair of networking infrastructure and systems.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
This position has a minimum in‑office requirement. The District may update the in‑office expectation based on operational needs.
The selected candidate must reside in the Phoenix metropolitan area or relocate within an agreed upon timeframe.
The role may require planned/unplanned maintenance and response outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Occasional travel among District sites and work in offices, data centers, telecommunications rooms, or other equipment spaces may be required.

The position may require prolonged computer use, frequent visual attention to monitors, and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
The employee may present technical information in meetings or sponsored events.
