Job summary

Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) seeks an Information Technology Supervisor at Glendale Community College. The role oversees the OIT Service Desk/Help Desk, coordinating staff, and delivering critical tech support to students, faculty, staff, and the community.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field with four years’ experience, including two years in lead roles. Some evenings/weekends and a 12-month calendar may apply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or a related field from a regionally accredited institution with four years of professional experience, including two years in lead or senior roles.
  • Equivalent combination of degree, education, certification, and full-time work experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of Service Desk/Help Desk staff; assign priorities; identify training needs; provide staff mentoring; participate in hiring and discipline activities.
  • Support computing systems, PCs, operating systems, multimedia systems, and peripherals; supervise end-user services and resolution of escalated issues.
  • Stay current with technologies; identify service improvements; research industry standards and emerging tech; supervise system enhancements and integration; administer Service Desk systems.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and standards for Service Desk Support; supervise maintenance of Knowledge Base articles.
  • Manage resources; analyze data; prepare reports; approve unit work products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm; some evenings and weekends may be required.
Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7am-6pm.

Job Summary

Supervises assigned technology program/functions and staff. The primary focus is the supervision of employees and coordination of work for the OIT Service Desk/Help Desk Support team, which provides critical support services for customers across the college, including students, faculty, staff, and the community.

Essential Functions
  • 30% - Plan, organize, assign, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of full-time Service Desk/Help Desk Support staff; evaluate priorities, deploy staff as needed; identify training needs and opportunities for staff development; provide staff training and mentoring; supervise day-to-day activities; participate in hiring, discipline, and termination activities.
  • 20% - Support computing systems, PCs, operating systems, multimedia systems, and peripherals, using standard Service Desk/Help Desk communication methods; identify, recommend, and implement design tools and methodologies; supervise provision of end-user services and resolution of escalated issues and customer concerns.
  • 20% - Keep current with latest technologies; identify service improvement opportunities; research and implement industry standards, trends, best practices, and emerging technologies; supervise systems development and enhancement, and integration of new systems with existing systems; administer Service Desk/Help Desk systems.
  • 10% - Develop policies, procedures, and standards related to development, maintenance, and documentation of Service Desk/Help Desk Support; supervise maintenance of Service Desk/Help Desk Knowledge Base articles.
  • 10% - Manage, administer, and identify resource needs; make recommendations; coordinate data collection, analysis, and reporting activities; compose, review, finalize, and approve reports and other work products of the unit.
  • 10% - Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or a directly related field from a regionally accredited institution and four years of professional experience in an area directly related to the assignment, which includes two years of lead or senior-level experience; or an equivalent combination of degree, education, certification, and full-time work experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Two or more years of documented experience in supervising within a Service Desk/Help Desk, including systems, services, processes, vendor partners, customer relationships, or developing/leading cross-functional teams.
  2. Two or more documented years supporting computer hardware, end-user software, media technologies, and education platforms and technologies.
  3. Two or more demonstrated years of experience developing technical documentation, procedures, policies, standards, guidelines, operational specifications, or Knowledge Base articles related to IT support.
  4. Two or more years of demonstrated experience in higher education, supporting services in a college or university setting.
  5. One year of demonstrated experience working with ITIL standards within a Service Desk/Help Desk group.
  6. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience within the previous two years.
Special Working Conditions
  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas.
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving.
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense.
  • May be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations.
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends.
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
  • May require lifting or carrying up to 25 lbs.
