Job summary

By Light Professional IT Services seeks a NetOps System Administrator to ensure secure, high-availability network operations across multiple environments. The role requires monitoring, incident response, and metric analysis in a dynamic setting at Annapolis Junction, MD.

The position demands DoD 8140/8570 IAT II or higher certification within six months, with 4+ years in help desk operations and experience with VMware, NetApp, and Linux. Clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or 5 years’ related experience in lieu of degree.
• IAT II or greater certification such as Security+, CCNA, CISSP within six months of hire.
• 4+ years of directly related experience supporting help desk operations.
• 2–5 years of analytics tools such as Metabase and Grafana.
• Experience with VMware, NetApp, and RedHat Linux (RHEL).
• Experience with virtualized and cloud-hosted environments.
• Experience using ticketing and incident management platforms such as ServiceNow or Jira.

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient and secure operations across all supported systems and networks.
• Perform day-to-day network performance monitoring.
• Collect & analyze metrics and trending data, develop data standards, policies, and procedures.
• Analyze data sources, assess validity, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Conduct incident response activities, ensuring timely triage, escalation, resolution, and documentation of network-related issues.
• Prepare and present operational briefings, status reports, and performance metrics to leadership.
• Develop and manage detailed documentation to support standardized operational processes and procedures.
• Maintain awareness of system capacity, utilization trends, and potential performance bottlenecks.
