Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA Level III/IV) in Texas to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on high voltage power systems. Travel up to 75% regionally and nationally; compensation up to $110/hour, with OT and bonuses.

You will mentor technicians and lead technical teams on multi-discipline projects. Required NETA Level III/IV and 7+ years HV testing experience, strong relay knowledge, and fluency with test equipment.

Qualifications

• Certification must be current and in good standing.
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Strong knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
