Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA Level III/IV) in Texas to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on power systems up to 500 kV. You will conduct studies, calibrate protective relays, and generate detailed reports with recommendations.

Qualifications

• NETA III or IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage.
• Proficiency with listed test equipment (Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF).
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read one-line, three-line diagrams, schematics and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Willingness to travel regionally up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor-based).
• Test insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance on transformers, switchgear, cables and breakers.
• Interpret test results and author engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, OSHA safety.
