Job summary

Vertiv Corporation seeks a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA Level III/IV) in Texas to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500 kV. You will conduct short-circuit, arc flash, and power quality studies, and calibrate relays while documenting results in detailed reports.

This full-time role requires 7+ years of HV testing experience, MV/LV relay knowledge, and travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III/IV certification (current, in good standing).
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Strong knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF, or equivalent.
• Ability to read one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Willingness to travel regionally up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500 kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians; serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
