Job summary

AES Indiana is seeking a NERC Compliance Engineer to strengthen reliability, safety, and performance of our power generation assets in Indiana. You will ensure compliance with NERC and Regional Entity standards while collaborating with engineering, operations and regulatory teams.

The role involves monitoring standards, developing programs, coordinating audits, and providing training to plant personnel. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems; experience in NERC compliance;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field; Master’s a plus.
• Experience in power generation, transmission, NERC compliance, or related technical environment.
• Strong knowledge of NERC O&P and CIP standards.
• Familiarity with generator protection systems, control systems, and performance modeling.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities, collaborate across teams, and follow work through to completion in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, interpret, and support implementation of applicable NERC Reliability Standards for generation facilities.
• Develop, maintain, and execute compliance programs, procedures, and documentation with NERC Compliance team.
• Support coordination of NERC and Regional Entity audits, spot checks, and self-certifications.
• Analyze protection system settings, generator performance models, and operational data to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with plant engineers and operators to integrate compliance into design changes, maintenance, and operations.
• Maintain accurate compliance records, evidence, and reporting per AES and regulatory requirements.
• Provide training and guidance to plant personnel on compliance obligations.
• Coordinate with NERC Compliance Team on regulatory changes and impact on AES Indiana’s fleet.
• Collect and submit Quarterly NERC GADS data to MISO; Coordinate Annual MISO Generator Capacity Testing.
• Provide Operations Electrical Engineering support as needed.
