Job description

Important Note: Professional interpretation experience and/or interpreter certification and training are required for this position. A combination of experience and training can be considered for the role.

This is an OPI/VRI interpreter position.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional interpreting experience
  • Interpreter certification or interpretation training courses
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in English and target language, as assessed by our Language Checkup
  • Reside in the US (Remote position)

Position Summary:

This role involves skilled consecutive, first-person interpretation, performed under supervision following established policies and procedures. Limited autonomous judgment is exercised, with most issues referred to a supervisor. This description applies to all languages spoken within the Interpreter classification.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides meaning-for-meaning interpretation.
  • Adheres to CyraCom’s interpreter protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to interpreter ethics.
  • Attends all required training sessions.
  • Continuously enhances vocabulary and subject matter knowledge across various fields such as medical, legal, and social services.
  • Uses standard office equipment and MS Office applications like Outlook, Word, and browsers.
  • Demonstrates reliable attendance, follows directions, and communicates effectively in English and the target language.

Other Duties:

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Fluency in English and the target language.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Basic linguistics and cultural understanding.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and react calmly in emergencies.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise initiative within company policies.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.
  • Effective at establishing work relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet browsers.
  • Capable of operating office equipment such as computers, fax, copier, and telephone systems.
