Job summary

America West Medical Transportation is seeking a courteous NEMT Driver to deliver reliable wheelchair transportation with a focus on exceptional customer service in Chula Vista, CA. You will assist clients getting in and out of the vehicle and provide a seamless “through the door” service, while adhering to safety protocols and pre‑trip inspections.

Qualifications include a valid state (or CDL) driver’s license, familiarity with the local area, and the ability to work flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver's license or CDL required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required.
• Familiar with driving region and surrounding areas.
• Experience driving corporate clients and paratransit vehicles is a plus.
• Must have a valid state driver's license for at least 3 years with minimal violations.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-inspection checks on assigned vehicles.
• Safely transport clients to and from destinations.
• Assist clients getting in and out of the vehicle and with door-through service.
• Maintain customer service standards throughout trips.
• Adhere to DOT/industry safety requirements as applicable.

About the Role

We are seeking a courteous and friendly wheelchair NEMT Driver who can deliver excellent customer service consistently. Drivers must assist clients getting in and out of the vehicle and assist clients with a “through the door” service. Applicants must have a flexible work schedule, to accommodate the business need.

What You’ll Do

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

NEMT Drivers are responsible for pre-inspection checks on all vehicles they are driving. They must make sure all items or any other devices are stored away properly. NEMT Drivers must drive clients to and from destinations in a safe manner.

Qualifications

License

• Valid state driver’s license or commercial driver’s license required.

Education & Training

• High school graduate or GED equivalent is preferred but not required.
• Valid CPR/First Aid card is preferred but not required.
• Drivers should be familiar with the driving region and the surrounding areas.

Knowledge and Experience

• Experience driving corporate clients and paratransit vehicles are a plus.
• Must have a valid specific state driver’s license of posted job location forat least three (3) years preferred,with no more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) at fault accident in the last three (3) years.
• Applicants must be familiar with using cellular phones and navigating around areas using a GPS.
• Experience working with the elderly population
• Physical certifications: Non-DOT Physical, Drug, TB, and Breath Alcohol test
• Acceptable background screens, which include but is not limited to criminal check and drug and alcohol screening
• Valid Authorization to work in the U.S.

Working Conditions

• Must pass pre-employment screening - background and drug screen which includes alcohol screening
• May be subjected to multiple drug and alcohol screenings to maintain Driver credentials

Physical Requirements

Driver must be able to pass the physical test:

• Lift up to 50 LBS, push up to 150 LBS
• Bend from the waist
• Pivot from waist
• Be able to move from a standing position to kneeling position back to standing
