Job summary

Planned Parenthood North Central States in North Dakota seeks a State Director, External Affairs to lead education, public affairs and fundraising initiatives in the state. The role requires strategic direction, relationship-building with partners, and oversight of office operations in North Dakota, including a remote-first arrangement with Fargo, ND office options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, public health, public administration or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
• 10-15 years administrative experience including 5 years in public affairs, development, women's reproductive health and comprehensive sexual health education or a directly related field.
• Valid driver's license and a reliable method of transportation.
• Mission driven and proactive, with the ability to work well with people, and possess a deep understanding of and desire to address the specific health challenges facing vulnerable communities.
• Proven experience driving organizational results and demonstrates accountability & services mentality.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the lead staff representative to the state C4 board and is responsible for ongoing board affairs including meetings, communications, advancing strategy, and engagement
• Creates a state c4 board that reflects patients served and the people PP represents in its public affairs and community building work
• Serves as the local face and leadership of Planned Parenthood's work which includes aligning all external facing work with health care and education missions
• Sets the vision for and supervises the power building work in the state
• Provide guidance, supervision, and support to Public Affairs team members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and effective communication strategies
