Position

Correction Officer – Noble Correctional Institute (Noble County, Ohio)

Responsibilities

• Maintain control of the institution to provide safety and security of the facility, inmates, staff, and general public by enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Supervise and direct inmate activity in assigned areas of the facility.
• Assure the assigned area is clean, safe, and secure.
• Monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers.
• Operate automotive vehicles in perimeter security and transport inmates.
• Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.
• Complete required reports and serve on committees.
• Prevent escapes or incidents that threaten security.
• Use physical force, unarmed self‑defense, firearms, or other force to detain or secure inmates when necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. and a valid driver’s license; positions requiring transportation may require a commercial driver’s license.
• Must successfully pass the Correction Officer Assessment or have completed the assessment within the past 24 months; current DRC employees who are certified as Correction Officers are also eligible.
• Probationary period of 365 days.

Compensation

Newly hired Correction Officer will be hired at Step 1 ($24.88 per hour) and move to Step 2 ($25.61 per hour) after six months.

Earn an additional $0.60 per hour when working 2nd or 3rd shift.
