Job summary

Hunter Engineering Company in Raymond, MS is seeking an NC Operator for the 2nd shift (3:30 PM–12:00 AM, Mon–Fri). You will read specifications, set up tooling, operate CNC machines, and inspect parts for quality. Must read blueprints, lift up to 50 lbs, and have basic math and crane operation ability. AS400 and MS Office proficiency a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
• Must be able to operate a crane; forklift experience preferred.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Color and peripheral vision required; manual dexterity essential.

Responsibilities

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments, material requirements, quantity and sequence.
• Set up tools and punches per setup sheets.
• Observe machine operation to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Measure workpiece dimensions using rulers, calipers, micrometer for accuracy.
• Program CNC to set up machine and troubleshoot as needed.
• Maintain tooling and perform minor machine maintenance.
• Follow safety rules and work cohesively with team.
• May train other operators and handle additional duties.

What Youll Do

• Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments material requirements quantity and job sequence
• Manually sets tools and punches as specified by setup sheets
• Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
• Measures work piece dimensions with the use of ruler templates calipers square tape measure and micrometer to determine accuracy of machine operation
• Engages program to begin cutting or punching holes in material
• Manually lifts material onto machine
• Reads blueprints and job orders for product specifications such as dimensions tolerances and tooling instructions
• CNC programming required to set machine up including but not limited to changing specifications and troubleshooting
• Maintains tools in proper location and condition including assembly sharpening and critical visual inspection
• Inspects work pieces before use to eliminate damaged pieces and after use to ensure high quality
• Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines dies or work pieces
• Must be willing and able to work overtime as an extension to a normal workday or on weekends as scheduled
• Observe and follow all safety rules
• Must work cohesively with machine operators maintenance and others
• Must be proficient in AS400 and Microsoft applications
• May train other operators
• Additional duties as assigned

What Youll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must have the ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals
• Must be able to operate a crane previous forklift experience is highly preferred
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; ability to walk climb balance stoop kneel or crouch
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision and peripheral vision
• Manual dexterity in hands for various tool usage
