Job summary

WSP is seeking a highly skilled NBIS Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader to direct bridge inspection activities in the Mountain/Pacific Northwest Region. You will lead inspections, plan field operations, and deliver high-quality documentation for infrastructure programs.

You will mentor junior inspectors, collaborate with engineers and CAD technicians, and communicate findings to clients while upholding safety and quality standards across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • NBIS Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader with up-to-date certifications.
  • Engineer license required.
  • Strong understanding of AASHTO, FHWA, and state inspection standards.
  • Proficiency with inspection tools such as tablets, drones, NDT equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural plans, specifications, and load rating analyses.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for field assignments.
  • Physical ability to perform fieldwork, including climbing, lifting equipment, and working at heights or over water.
  • High interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Self‑leadership with attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and prioritization.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and compliance.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform NBIS/NTIS inspections in accordance with regulations and WSP standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee field inspection activities and scheduling.
  • Conduct rope access or specialized inspections as required.
  • Document findings via field notes, photos, and sketches.
  • Prepare inspection reports with condition ratings and recommendations.
  • Interpret plans, load ratings, and past data to guide inspections.
  • Ensure safety protocols including traffic control and fall protection.
  • Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and CAD staff.
  • Mentor junior inspectors and provide training and quality oversight.
  • Communicate results and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
