Our group, the Joint Defense Support Group within SPA’s Sea Land Air (SLA) Division, supports the Surface community and components of the United States Navy by providing program management, requirements management, force development, and readiness support in Washington DC and the Fleet concentration areas. We provide timely, objective, analytic assessments, strategic planning, and expert operational, technical, and acquisition support to the Maritime communities, and related agencies, allies, and partners. We are trusted agents of the senior and operational leadership in the Fleet, OPNAV, NAVSEA, and the Royal Canadian and Royal Australian Navies. We play key roles in providing insights and strategies to address current and emerging challenges to national security and have a tremendous impact on our client’s success in solving their most important issues.

SPA has an immediate need for a Navy Recruiting Public Affairs Program Specialist in Great Lakes, IL supporting NTAG Great Lakes. CJ #IN123

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of strategic communications products.
  • Draft strategic communications talking points for NTAG leadership.
  • Assist in developing an integrated communications program, including a national advertising campaign across TV, radio, magazines, INTERNET, social networking, cost per lead buys, and job postings.
  • Manage website and social media platforms, including content creation, communication, and information cataloguing to support Navy recruiting efforts.
  • Access and manipulate social media sites to capture, respond to, and synthesize relevant content.
  • Provide photographic support for major Navy recruiting efforts.
  • Write publishable articles on major Navy recruiting events and campaigns.
  • Support Navy recruiting events with limited event planning, including photographic, strategic communications, social media, and journalism support, traveling as needed.

Travel is required, and a hybrid work schedule (approximately half-time) is possible.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in public affairs, including social media, journalism, and communications.
  • Ability to travel to various sites for Navy Recruiting Command events.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one during employment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience creating and delivering work products and communications for executive leadership.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite for graphic design, social media posts, and news articles.
  • Experience providing strategic communications support to senior leadership.
