Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is hiring an Acquisition Software Engineer to lead software life cycle activities for DoD programs, including planning, development, and execution with emphasis on mission-critical systems for naval aviation and national defense.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent DoD software experience), a Secret clearance, and US citizenship, with travel to CONUS locations up to six times per year. Local Pax River, NAS presence is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or a technical/scientific degree with software engineering experience on DoD programs.
• Secret clearance required.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Willingness to travel within CONUS up to 6 times per year.
• Local to Pax River, NAS and able to attend meetings in person.

Responsibilities

• Leads and participates in software acquisition activities across the lifecycle.
• Reviews software acquisition documents and attends IPT/CSCI meetings.
• Ensures software meets security, cadence, and quality requirements.
• Coordinates with cyber, CI/CD, and fleet teams for fieldable systems.
• Develops acceptance criteria and tracks agile/development metrics.
