Job summary

Serco is seeking Shipyard Laborers to support US Navy projects in the Norfolk and Newport News areas. You will join a dynamic team handling general labor, welding helper duties, fire watch, and electrical cable installation on military ships and installations.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, ability to obtain a Secret clearance, background check, drug screening, and willingness to work second shift with overtime. Some travel to shipyards is expected.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• The ability to obtain gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
• The ability to work second shift and willing to work more than 40 hour work weeks.
• The ability to travel up to 10% to different shipyards in Norfolk and/or Chesapeake.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor including loading, unloading, lifting and moving supplies and materials.
• Perform duties as a fire watch and welder`s helper as well as install electric cable when needed.
• Work under immediate supervision.
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
