Serco is seeking a Shipyard Laborer to support U.S. Navy ships, working on-board naval vessels in Norfolk, VA. You will join a team delivering cabling, equipment, and C5ISR installations with a focus on safe, quality workmanship.

Serco is hiring a Shipyard Laborer to be part of a dynamic team supporting our US. Navy. You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver quality work performed on-board U.S. Naval Ships located in the beautiful surroundings of Norfolk, VA.

Serco supports our US Naval Ships with successful and safe work for our Navy customer by providing cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations for our Navy and the Military. You will join an active team to perform general manual labor to support this critical mission.

You will join, fabricate, and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies by applying appropriate safety techniques and the work is performed on-board U.S. Naval Ships and military installations. You will also play a critical role in ensuring that successful and safe work is performed on-board U.S. Naval Ships and our Military installations, which is vital to our Mission to protect and serve our Military.

In this role, you will:

• Perform general manual labor including loading, unloading, lifting and moving supplies and materials.


• Perform duties as a fire watch and welder's helper as well as install electric cable when needed.


• Work under immediate supervision.


• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.


• Typically report to a supervisor or manager.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A High School Diploma


• The ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance


• US citizenship


• The availability to work second or third shift as needed and more than 40 hours work weeks.


• Ability to commute to Newport News, VA as needed.


• The ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening.


• The ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Salary range: The hourly amount for this position can be found at the top of this posting. This role is covered by the Service Contract Act. For positions on this contract, we will pay the prevailing wage rate for the location in which the employee is working, as determined by the Department of Labor and the Wage Determination (WD). The wage rate will vary depending on the locality. Additionally, you will receive Health and Welfare Benefits based on the WD for the contract.
