Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Rigger to support a government contract based in Jacksonville, Florida at Mayport. The role performs the duties described under the Service Contract Act and may perform other classifications with equal pay rates.

The candidate will assemble rigging gear, direct crane operations, set up hoisting equipment, and ensure safety and compliance with NAVFAC P-307 standards while working on ships and equipment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years as Rigger.
  • Familiarity with NAVFAC P-307.
  • Rigger Certification; Class A CDL; Forklift Operator Certification.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles rigging gear to lift and move equipment or material.
  • Directs crane operator via hand signals or radio communications.
  • Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment.
  • Directs workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment on board and into ships.
  • Uses hand and power tools to attach loads to rigging gear.
  • Cleans, inspects, and tests rigging gear for safety and reliability.
  • Moves loads using multi-point suspension techniques.
