Job description

Gulf Marine Repair in Tampa, FL is seeking to hire a full-time Rigger to set up and repair rigging for the movement of heavy equipment at our shipyard. As a rigger, you will be required to prepare the materials for before loading, set up the rigging equipment, operate heavy equipment machinery, and dismantle the rigging after the job. This is a 1st shift position.

Our Riggers earn a competitive starting wage of up to $21.77/hour based on experience. As a Rigger, you inspect and prepare all loads that need to be moved. You control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment. With great care and precision, you calculate the weight factors and angles used in the proper lifting and transferring of those heavy loads.

By means of hand signals or verbal communication, you guide the crane operator to move the equipment to a precise landing.

You safely use rigging equipment to fasten loads to meet company and federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. You operate under strict quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations and policies. You enjoy working in a shipyard environment and find great satisfaction in your work.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of experience in a shipyard environment (preferred)
  • Experience calculating loads and pouring a socket on a tow cable
  • Working experience with both hydraulic and friction cranes
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Strong communication skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent spatial awareness
  • Flexible schedule to include working overtime and weekends when required
  • Must be NCCCO certified.

A high school diploma or equivalent and rigging certification are preferred, but not required.
