Job summary

Serco is seeking a Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Systems Engineer to provide technical support to the U.S. Navy Surface Ship Fleet.

The role focuses on fleet readiness, sailor safety, and ship condition across multiple classes, coordinating with Navy technical communities and Serco SMEs. Responsibilities include lifecycle management, maintenance planning, and resolving high-visibility CASREPs and fleet priorities, with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Active DoW Secret security clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree with minimum 2 years’ relevant Naval shipboard engineering experience or a High School Diploma with 4 years’ applicable Naval shipboard experience.
• Knowledge of U.S. Navy ship configuration, management principles, processes, and activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficient in eARRTS and HARS.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare machinery and propulsion systems operational directives and review related drawings and specs.
• Provide engineering, technical, and analytical support for HM&E systems on Navy surface ships.
• Analyze equipment failures and maintenance actions, and develop recommendations for corrective action.
• Perform lifecycle engineering assessments including sustainment, configuration management, and modernization considerations.
• Review and support development of technical documentation and installation procedures.
• Draft and support Naval Advisory Messages regarding fleet material issues and safety concerns.
