Job summary

Delphinus Engineering, Inc. in Norfolk, VA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and analysis of Navy HM&E systems aboard ships. You will develop 3D models using Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks and coordinate with a cross-functional team to ensure design intent and data integrity.

Responsibilities include preparing design drawings, performing calculations (fluid flow, stress, vibration), and supporting shipyard field verification and installation. U.S.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• BSME or related engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.
• Proficient with AutoCAD or 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks).
• Ability to work independently and in a team to meet deadlines.
• Experience performing key responsibilities listed above.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Must qualify for or hold a DoD Secret clearance.
• Ability to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Perform shipchecks and waterfront field verification; prepare system specifications and develop design drawings.
• Read, interpret, troubleshoot HM&E systems and schematics.
• Perform calculations (fluid flow, stress, shock, vibration, CG).
• Revise and prepare HM&E documentation (MRCs, manuals).
• Select materials and develop BOMs; ensure compliance with Navy/industry standards.
• Prepare red-line markups and incorporate changes into drawings and docs.
• Develop installation, inspection, and test procedures; support testing and commissioning.
