Job summary

Delphinus Engineering LLC in Norfolk, VA seeks a drafting/design professional to support Navy HM&E ship alteration work. You will conduct shipboard verifications, interpret as-built drawings, and develop Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) per NAVSEA standards and Delphinus quality procedures.

The role requires independent and collaborative work, DoD Secret clearance eligibility, and 20–40% travel. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree in drafting/design is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; further education in relevant field a plus.
• Experience in U.S. Navy HM&E shipboard systems design appropriate to level.
• Proficient with AutoCAD; familiarity with Inventor or SolidWorks a plus.
• Ability to work independently and in a team to meet deadlines.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
• Ability to travel (20–40%) as required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed shipchecks on Carriers, Surface Combatants, and Amphibious ships.
• Utilize technical libraries and ship drawing indexes to locate as-built drawings.
• Create Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) adhering to NAVSEA standards.
• Check drawings to QMS requirements and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Maintain drawing configuration control and revision history.
• Collaborate with engineers, production staff, and customers to resolve issues.
