Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking an experienced Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Systems Engineer to support U.S. Navy Surface Ships. The role focuses on lifecycle management, maintenance planning, and resolving high-visibility CASREPs while coordinating with NAVWAR, TYCOMs, and field activities.

You will prepare directives for propulsion systems, review gas turbine installations, and provide engineering recommendations to improve fleet readiness and sailor safety. A DoW Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Active DoW Secret security clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree with Naval shipboard engineering experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge of U.S. Navy ship configuration and maintenance processes.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Prepare machinery and propulsion system directives and review gas turbine systems.
• Provide engineering support for HM&E systems aboard naval surface ships.
• Analyze failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct lifecycle assessments including sustainment and modernization considerations.
• Develop technical documentation and advisory communications.
• Coordinate with Navy and contractor stakeholders to resolve HM&E issues.
• Create briefings, dashboards, and readiness tracking products.
