Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia, is seeking an experienced designer to develop and refine components and systems. You will use CAD/CAM tools such as NX or CATIA, prepare layouts and sketches, and coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, tooling and material teams to ensure manufacturability and conformance to specs.

Qualifications

NNS Apprentice School graduate
Navy NNPS graduate
High School/GED with 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades or Military experience
High School/GED with 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades or Military experience
3D modeling/Inventor experience
Strong communication skill
Technical Drawing experience

Responsibilities

Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products.
Utilizes CAD/CAM/NX/Catia and coordinates with engineering, manufacturing and planning teams.
Prepare rough layouts, sketches and design proposals for review.
