Job summary

Gibbs & Cox, a Leidos subsidiary, seeks a Naval Structural Designer in Newport News, VA to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for naval and commercial ships, using ShipConstructor and AutoCAD. You will translate requirements into precise structural layouts.

The role requires 3+ years in structural design, shipbuilding experience, and strong MS Office skills; US citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required; overtime and travel may be needed.

Qualifications

Associates Degree or 3+ years of relevant experience in lieu of an Associate's Degree.
3+ years of experience with Structural Design, 3D Modeling and 2D Drawing development.
Proficient in AutoCAD.
Experience working in the shipbuilding industry.
Demonstrated proficiency of drafting methods, procedures and techniques.

Responsibilities

Utilizing ShipConstructor to develop structural 3D models and 2D assembly drawings.
Prepare accurate and detailed designs based on functional requirements and specifications.
Collaborate with clients, naval architects and engineers to produce high quality ship design products.
