Job summary

Carlos F Vigil Middle School seeks a Native American Liaison to strengthen relationships with Tribal governments, Native students, and families, promoting equity and culturally responsive practices.

The role reports to the Federal Programs/Indian Ed Director and involves extensive collaboration, outreach, and district-level coordination across programs that support Native American education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Native American Studies, Public Administration, Human Services, Counseling, or related field preferred.
• An associate degree with significant related experience may be considered.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with Native American communities, schools, or educational programs.
• Knowledge of New Mexico Tribal communities, cultures, and educational issues.
• Experience with community outreach and family engagement.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Knowledge of Native languages is desirable.
• Valid New Mexico Driver's License.
• Successful completion of district employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Academic Intervention and Tutoring Support: provide tutoring and intervention services.
• Student Success Monitoring: analyze attendance and progress data.
• Student Advocacy: support educational success and wellbeing.
• Family and Community Engagement: foster partnerships with Native communities.
• Martinez/Yazzie Implementation: promote equitable opportunities.
• Indian Education Act Compliance: assist with reporting and initiatives.
