Job summary

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a National Water Treatment Technical Expert to provide technical leadership, strategic guidance, and client-facing support for complex water quality and treatment initiatives.

You will develop treatment processes, design basis reports, and pilot tests, while mentoring staff and growing client relationships across municipal and private sectors. This role emphasizes project delivery, regulatory knowledge, and collaboration with our research teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of drinking water treatment engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license; multi-state licensure preferred (CA, CO, FL, HI, OR, TX, VA, WA).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical process and water quality expertise for municipal drinking water treatment, water reuse, and advanced water purification.
• Develop and maintain relationships with municipal and private-sector water clients; identify opportunities and lead pursuit strategies.
• Process design in feasibility studies, facility plans, and process pilot testing for complex water projects.
• Advise preliminary process design, basis of design reports, and preliminary drawings.
• Guide development and provide quality control review of PFDs, design criteria, and P&ID diagrams.
• Evaluate process performance and optimize existing water treatment facilities.
• Participate in water-focused professional organizations and present technical material.
• Collaborate with Applied Research Group on water quality research projects.
• Team up with private sector water treatment staff to support projects.
