The role collaborates with CHIRLA leadership to advance our immigrant rights agenda and coordinate national campaigns and events.

The Deputy Director will brief Members of Congress and staff, manage policy staff and contracted lobbyists, and oversee national campaigns like Registry and related advocacy work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum five years of legislative experience.
• At least five years of experience in national campaigns.
• Strong research and policy development skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• In-depth understanding of the functions of the U.S. federal government and its branches.
• A broad strategic vision that integrates public policy with an immigration perspective.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate federal policy campaigns and national initiatives.
• Develop briefings for Members of Congress and staff.
• Oversee CHIRLA campaigns and relationships with national networks.
• Collaborate with Policy Director, Advocacy staff, and legal counsel.
• Represent CHIRLA in hearings, briefings, and public events.
• Monitor federal policy impacts and provide analysis.
